Here are the steps involved in getting onto our program. What we aim to achieve with you is a treatment program that suits your individual needs and one that can be customized if required according to the dynamics of your menopause. A good way to achieve this is for us to keep in regular contact with you and to monitor your symptoms and pathology levels.
Step 1: In order for us to get you started on your treatment program we will require from you:
- A detailed medical history
- Details of what menopause symptoms you are experiencing
- Pathology results or results of other investigations – because of the fluctuating levels of hormones that often occur during the menopause, pathology testing is not always necessary as a diagnostic tool; pathology testing is however regularly used by us as a monitoring tool.
We will assist you in organizing this in advance of your first consultation with our doctors.
Step 2: We will then book you in for a consultation at the first available time or a time that suits you.
Step 3: You will have a consultation with one of our doctors who will review your history and discuss it with you in detail. The doctor will also consider your presenting symptoms and pathology results (if done) and determine what treatment option would suit you. You will have an opportunity to discuss your concerns and ask any medical questions that you have.
Step 4: You will also get an opportunity to discuss the treatment program with the program coordinator.
Step 5: Once you are on the program you will be contacted regularly to monitor your progress. The first contact will be made within a week of joining the program to ensure that you have received the program and this allows you to ask any further questions you may have.
Step 6: Two weeks after starting the program you will have a follow up consultation with the doctor to review your progress and to make any initial fine tuning changes that may be required. If changes were made, a follow up review will be done again two weeks later.
Step 7: Each month we will make contact with you to determine how you are going and to answer any questions that you may have.
Step 8: We suggest that you have a consultation with our doctor at least twice a year (6 monthly).
Step 9: When the decision is made to start weaning off treatment we will assist you through this process.
