What is a compounding pharmacy & what do they do?

Compounding pharmacies are found all over the country and in particular in our major hospitals where compounding of prescription doses of all medicines are undertaken on a daily basis so as to provide a specific medication and dose for specific patients. Compounding pharmacies come under the supervision of the Pharmacy Board and are required to uphold best practice standards as deemed by the board. It is important to point out that medication for Australian Menopause Centre patients are compounded by a state of the art compounding pharmacy. Whilst the medications formulated may seem expensive, in reality as part of a comprehensive treatment program, they are very competitively priced.

Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) – and also commonly referred to as body-identical hormone replacement therapy – when prescribed correctly, compounded professionally and monitored consistently is very effective, and what we believe to be the safest approach to treating hormonal imbalance and in particular symptoms of perimenopause and menopause.
