Persistent lack of energy is a symptom of peri- menopause and menopause, yet many cannot explain why they feel so exhausted and tired. Hormone Changes and Fatigue
Changes in hormone levels is the main cause of fatigue in menopause. Oestrogen, progesterone, the adrenal glands and melatonin levels are regulators of the energy in the body and when these levels fall or are interrupted, fatigue can be the result.

Lack of sleep and night sweats which are all symptoms of peri – menopause and menopause are all contributing factors to fatigue.

Certain remedies include taking short naps of 20 minutes or so which can help give that extra burst of energy, getting outside for a few minutes of fresh air or just taking some time to have a short period of relaxation can certainly help. If, however, the fatigue is a result of hormone imbalance then it is time to get these back in balance.

Whilst women in their menopause years are likely to experience fatigue, it is also important to note that other causes may contribute to fatigue, such as thyroid problems, heart disease, anaemia, anxiety and depression. If you live a sedentary life, have poor nutrition, are stressed, all these can contribute to fatigue.
